Why do you charge more for stair carpet?

Because it takes considerably longer and it is the work most often done badly. Each tread and riser is tensioned individually. A stair carpet run as one loose length looks wrong within weeks and is a genuine trip hazard, so we would rather price it honestly than fit it cheaply.

The floor levels do not line up between rooms. Can that be fixed?

Levelled or bridged, depending on how big the step is. In subdivided Parklands houses the original floors were continuous and the partition walls came later, so mismatches are common. Small differences take a levelling compound; larger ones need a proper threshold.
